Adavoyle Junction Layout comes to Dublin
The 23rd July 2009 will be a milestone date in the annals of the South Dublin Model Railway Club because on that day the superb fine-scale GNR (I) layout built by Tony Miles and his friends found a new home in the club's premises at Knocklyon in Dublin.
Well known from its numerous appearances at exhibitions throughout Britain and also on occasion in the North of Ireland, Adavoyle Junction represents the Gret Northern Railway Ireland (Ireland) in the post-war days of steam. Built to painstaking P1 standards, most of the buildings and rolling stock are scratchbuilt, including tracks and pointwork. Both the Irish gauges of 5'3 and 3'0 are modelled.
The Club acknowledges the generosity of Tony Miles and his friends in donating the layout and is hopeful that in future Adavoyle Junction may appear in one of the Club's bi-annual exhibitions in Dublin.
